About the Author
I.M. He writes stories about women who refuse to stay where they are placed.
Raised in Massachusetts, she has lived across the United States—Arizona, Minnesota, and now Iowa—before moving abroad to Qingdao, China, where she teaches communication, writing, and literature at the university level. Her work in higher education keeps her constantly engaged with the mechanics of story: how language shapes thought, how narrative builds empathy, and how the right words at the right moment can change everything.
Her debut novel, ESCAPE, was born from a single question: what happens when a living goddess discovers she was never meant to reign—only to be consumed? The answer became a grimdark fantasy of found family, impossible choices, and women running from a theocracy that wants to eat them alive.
When not writing, she can be found exploring the intersection of American and Chinese cultures, planning her next novel, or arguing with her beta readers about character motivations. She writes under the pseudonym I.M. He.
